While the Derby that so many associate seersucker with has been run and the results in the books, there is still quite a bit of heat left before we hit sweater weather. I teamed up with Banana Republic to check out some of their new soft tailored "BR Picks" such as this seersucker double breasted jacket. Combining an already breathable fabric with a quarter lining and double vents makes this an ideal candidate for weekend wear when the temps really start to climb. Here I decided to go with a high, open collar navy shirt, white cotton-linen trousers and navy loafers to keep things relatively casual and while you can definitely dress things up a bit, I doubt this will see much action in that field of service. Lots of trousers like this, maybe some denim, Superga or Tretorn sneakers will be in play. It's nice to see retailers like Banana introduce softer tailoring into their offerings as it pretty much eliminates some of the issues that plague off the rack suits and jackets such as shoulder dimpling and helps out guys who have sloping shoulders like I do. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but there are quite a few men that will welcome having an affordable alternative.
