• WHAT I WORE•
THE ONE-PIECE COLLAR
JULY 22, 2017I've been interested in the concept of the one-piece collar for quite some time now, but could never quite bring myself to pull the trigger as I've been working to rid myself of my irrational aversion to button down collars of any sort. More than a few of my most stylish friends swear by them and I've found myself admiring their execution on more than one occasion.
The one-piece has held some intrigue for me and needless to say, when my man Vinnie over at Deo Veritas asked if I'd be interested in checking out the newest addition to their collar styles, I said yes.
The collar itself is a single piece that extends through the front torso and doubles as a placket. This reinforcing effect is that the collar stands on its own, without collapsing under it's own weight. There is no interlining which gives it a roll that you won't see with any other shirt. No top button and a curved top placket give it a uniquely contemporary casual look. So I thought, what better way to highlight this than with a linen safari jacket and some loafers.
If you haven't checked Deo Veritas out yet, I'd really recommend you give them a look. I've been nothing but pleased with every shirt I've received from them and their customer service has been top notch.

As you can see below, the collar stands up perfectly even without collar stays of any sort. In designing this particular shirt, I gave some specific thought to how I'd wear it, which was pretty much like this. It could be argued that the cuff style is over-kill but since there will always be a jacket in play, I decided to go for it.
