With the 4th of July weekend comes fireworks and Fair St. Louis. I normally skip out on the events, but this year the Fair was moved to Forest Park due to construction at the St. Louis Arch grounds which put it on my radar. Throw in funnel cakes, turkey legs and performances from artists like Musiq Soulchild and The Fray and the company of three of my favorite ladies, I decided to check it out. One of the biggest concerns about the move to the park was that traffic would be
an absolute beast, but getting to the park was nothing out of the ordinary and even though I elected to pay for parking as close to the stage as possible, rolling through the park was even smoother than an average Saturday despite all the street closures.
After parking, the wife and I navigated through what looked like a sea of red, white and blue from afar and linked up with two of her sisters (don't ask me how many she has). Since checking out the musical performances was our primary reason for heading down, we settled into a fairly uncrowded spot with a good enough view of the stage and a nice breeze.
While Musiq Soulchild's performance was unfortunately filled with on-going sound and technical issues, he definitely made the best of what he had to work with. The fair reminds me again of how many great things there are to take advantage of in St. Louis at no cost if one is so inclined. Still undecided as to how I feel about the park thing, but hey, also got to hit the FREE zoo afterwards.
