The Navy Long-Sleeved Polo by Banana Republic

Long-sleeved polos are something I've seen and been vaguely interested in. However when I combined the fact that they seemed counterintuitive to me as I feel long sleeves tend to make things a bit more formal and a polo strikes me as quite casual with the fact that I don't really consider myself a "polo-wearer", I never pulled the trigger on one.
Enter the kind folks at Banana Republic who have been nailing it lately with their soft shoulder jackets and carefully selected fabrics from Italian mills. I was offered an opportunity to check out one of their new long-sleeve polos in what I would consider the perfect color for it.
As far as first experiences go, this was a solid one. I liked the use of contrasting materials for the cuff and collar as well as the depth of the collar opening with the buttons. Since getting it, I've worn it buttoned up under a jacket as well as with all the buttons undone and while buttoned up would be my preference, it works well either way in my opinion. The side comment I will lob out there is that this is one of those items that probably looks much better on you, the better shape you are in. I played it relatively safe by pairing it with a pair of navy trousers but this definitely is a versatile item that will see some action this fall.
